An evacuation was called at the NeueHouse Madison Square following a gun threat during the “Surviving R. Kelly” premiere.
The NeueHouse Madison Square in New York has been evacuated following a phone call being made about a possible gun threat in the building.
The New York police department could not immediately confirm that they had authorities sent out to check on the threat.
“As a precaution, we evacuated,” a Lifetime representative told The Hollywood Reporter.
As of now, the premiere has been called off so that the team can regroup and discuss possibilities of rescheduling.
“Tonight’s all about the safety of everyone — we’re not even thinking of what to do next yet,” the representative added.
Those who were expected to be in attendance included #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, cultural critic Jamilah Lemieux and accusers of Kelly, including Kitti Jones, Jerhonda Pace, Lisa Van Allen, Asante McGee and Lizzette Martinez.
As of now, there has been no word on who made the call, but Lifetime does report that the call was made from Chicago.
This documentary was set to focus on the various allegations that have come against Kelly. That includes a “sex cult” which has been a topic of conversation for a while. There have been no convictions against him as of yet.
The three-part series brings together various accusers of the singer as well as people from his “inner circle” who are reportedly giving detailed about alleged physical, emotional and mental abuse.
