Target issued an apology after customers opposed their “Baby Daddy” greeting cards for Father’s Day.
Fox News reports the greeting card backlash begun after Facebook user Takeisha Saunders posted a photo of the card on May 31. The greeting card shows the words “Baby Daddy” with a Black couple kissing in the background. Saunders posted the following caption on her page:
“You CANNOT be serious Target!!!! Really!!!?!!!!? This was the only Father’s Day card that featured a black couple!!!!!!”
Saunders said she found the greeting card while she was shopping at a Target in Rockwall, Texas. Although another commenter pointed out that the card uses the words “husband” and “father” inside of the card, Saunders stated it does not excuse the context of the card’s message.
“It’s not sweet or nice. It’s a term used to describe a deadbeat or absent parent.”
“Yeah it’s sweet on the inside but whomever created this card doesn’t know what it means,”
Target issued an apology after other shoppers caught wind of the “Baby Daddy” greeting cards in their stores.
“We were made aware of some concerns about this card last week and are working with our vendor to have it removed from Target stores.”
“We appreciate the feedback and apologize. It’s never our intent to offend any of our guests with the products we sell.”

Target did not confirm if they were removing the greeting cards from their selves as per their response to a customer on Twitter.
“Thanks for sharing this with us. We assure you it is never our intention to offend our guests with the merchandise we provide. We sincerely apologize to anyone this particular card has offended. Please verify the store location this was displayed so we can share your feedback.”
