One teacher wasn’t afraid to speak her mind!

A Georgia high school teacher who compared the Confederate flag to “a sticker you put on the back of your pickup truck to announce that you intend to marry your sister. Think of it like a white trash ‘Save the Date’ card,” has been suspended.

Melissa Fuller, whose daughter is a senior at Hephzibah High School in south Richmond County, said the message was on a classroom whiteboard on Monday during a lesson. She shared a photo of the message on Facebook. The card also read, “Think of it like a white trash ‘Save the Date’ card.”

According to the Augusta Chronicle, following an investigation the teacher was put on leave until the case can be further reviewed.

“The Richmond County School System is committed to creating a diverse, equitable learning environment for students,” the school district said in a statement. “The language used in the example was unacceptable and has no place in our classrooms.”
