A New Zealand teen was crushed to death during a hectic house party after 50 people fell on a staircase in a “domino-like” effect.
According to the New York Post, Sophia Crestani,19, was killed Saturday night at a house party near the University of Otago when a crowd fell on top of each other on a staircase. A witness said a group of people from the top of the staircase like a “domino effect” and Crestani was crushed upon impact.
“They started to fall backwards and when the people at the top started falling it was kind of like dominoes – everyone went down and the people at the bottom of the stairs just ended up in a pile of people,”

The teen was carried by other attendees so emergency responders could immediately resuscitate her.
“I just thought she was unconscious like everyone else,”

Crestani was known as a person with a “warm and friendly nature” and also had a twin sister. New Zealand media outlet Stuff reported that two other people were injured at the party but are expected to recover from the freak accident.
