South Carolina Teen Fakes His Own Kidnapping To Extort $130 From Mother

While attempting to blackmail and extort his own mother for $130, 19-year-old Emmanuel Franklin of South Carolina faked his own kidnapping and is now facing criminal charges.

Additionally, Franklin’s mother told Sumter County deputies that she received a private call from her son and an unknown man on January 22, who demanded that they’d hurt or kill her son if she didn’t leave $130 in a specified mailbox; that which turned out to be at the home of his father.

Subsequent to the police report made, deputies traced the call, and on January 24 they arrested Franklin and charged him with blackmail and extortion. He reportedly confessed to fabricating the story just to get money from his mother.
