Three Arizona teens were arrested after shooting a photographer nine times at Encanto Park earlier this month.
Complex reports Ricardo Mendoza -Sanchez ,18, Angel Ortega Romero,18, and an unnamed 17-year-old were arrested last week for shooting a photographer nine times. The shooting occurred on Sept.12 when the 33-year-old was taking photos inside of the park and the three teens asked him if he could photograph them. After their picture was taken, the teens called the photographer various racial slurs including the N-word. He told the teens not to use the word and two of them started to shoot him.
An audio clip revealed the victim saying “My man, I told you, you can’t say the n-word, you’re not black.” One of the teens told him he can say “whatever the f*** I want. In response, the victim says. “No, you cannot..not in front of me. Police reported the photographer suffered with serious injuries but is currently recovering.

Police arrested Mendoza-Sanchez on Sept.17 and the other two suspects were arrested on Sept.25. During Romero’s arrest, he attempted to pull out a gun on police but it was apprehended. While searching their homes, investigators found methamphetamine, handguns, and a ballistic vest.
The teens face charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, gang activity, and misconduct involving weapons.
