Thailand To Legalize Medical Marijuana For The New Year
While New Jersey sets plans to legalize marijuana for January, Thailand follows suit, legalizing its medicinal use as a “New Year’s gift.”
Chairman of the Drafting Committee Somchai Sawangkarn states, “This is a New Year’s gift from the National Legislative Assembly to the government and the Thai people.”
In addition, Dean of the Rangsit Institute of Integrative Medicine and Anti-Aging Panthep Puapongpan shared, “We’re going to demand that the government revoke all these requests before the law takes effect.”
Additionally, before today, the country had strict laws regarding the plant, similar to many other Southeast Asian countries.
Moreover, Thailand, like Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia implemented the death penalty to cannabis traffickers.
