Hakuna Matata! ‘The Lion King’ reigns over the box office after it earned a record-breaking $185 million during its opening weekend.
According to the New York Post, the live-action remark of ‘The Lion King’ was showing in 4,725 North American theatres and brought in $185 million by Sunday. Disney president of distribution, Cathleen Tate, says the company had something special when they decided to remake the Disney classic:
“We really did know we had something special with (“The Lion King”) given its popularity with fans of all ages.”

Despite mixed reviews from critics and fans, the live-action remake has sent thousands to watch Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, and others become their favorite characters. The film also has the ninth-biggest opening of all time. The film also earned $315 million after premiering early in China within 10 days.
So far, Disney’s movies have taken over the summer box office with “Toy Story 4”, “Spiderman: Far From Home” and “Aladdin.” “Avengers: Endgame” has finally surpassed James Cameron’s “Avatar” with the highest-grossing total at $2.79 billion.
