Tiffany Haddish Reveals She Upset Sanaa Lathan’s Family & How She Always Knew Roseanne Was Racist

Comedian Tiffany Haddish recently revealed that she upset the family of actress Sanaa Lathan after she made a joke out of the Beyonce bite story and how long she’s known that Roseanne Barr was racist.

The “Girls Trip” actress shared that Lathan’s family personally let her know how much she upset them when she confirmed that the “Love & Basketball” actress had bitten Beyonce’s chin at a private party last December.

“I’m super good friends with her stepmom and her dad, and they were mad at me,” Haddish told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview released Wednesday. “They were like, ‘Why would you do this to the family? You know, black actresses, you guys have to stick together, it’s so hard for you guys to get work as it is, why would you try to ruin her career?’ But I didn’t try to ruin her career. I never said her name! I was just trying to say how Beyoncé kept me from goin’ to jail that night. I coulda just shut my whole career down.”

Haddish had everyone talking after she shared the story that an actress who Bey claimed was on drugs bit the superstar in the face. Afterward, Beyonce forced Haddish to sign an NDA about the matter, but she still gets to hang out with the Carters.

“The other day, someone was saying, like, ‘Oh my God, you should keep your mouth shut ’cause now you’re never gonna be invited to parties,’” she said. “But I got invited to way more parties after that! It’s ridiculous how many parties. ‘Can you come to my party?’ ‘Can you come to my thing?’ They want me to talk about something at their thing ’cause they think, like, ‘This is gonna put me back on if Tiffany says something.’ ”

Haddish also revealed that she knew Roseanne Barr was racist way before “Roseanne” was canceled over her racist Twitter rants.

“I don’t know if you know El Segundo [California], but if you’re black and you’re driving through El Segundo, you’re going to get pulled over,” she said. “I used to visit my friend Anna there, and it got to a point where I was calling the police officers by name. One day, we were walking around the neighborhood, and Anna says, ‘Oh, Roseanne lives there,’” Haddish recalled.

“Now, I loved Roseanne, and the next day we walked by, and she was in her yard. I say, ‘Hiiii, Roseanne.’ She looks at me [with a disgusted face], and ran in the house. I thought, ‘Maybe she don’t want to be bothered today,’ ” she said. “A week later, we walk by again, and I told Anna — she’s Hispanic, but she looks white — she should say hi this time. So she says, ‘Hi, Roseanne,’ and Roseanne goes, ‘Hey!’ I thought, ‘Maybe she got to know us,’ ” she continued.

“Then I go back, like, a week later, I wave again and say, ‘Hi, Roseanne! I love your comedy,’ and she [makes the same disgusted face] and turns her head. I think, ‘F—k that bitch.’ That was 2000, maybe 2001, so it’s not new. She been racist, why’d you all give her a TV show?”
