Travis Scott and Big Boi Officially Join Maroon 5 for Super Bowl Halftime Show
The verdict is in, Travis Scott and Big Boi will be joining Maroon 5 as they headline the Super Bowl halftime show!
The news had been speculated for a while, however, the NFL made the official confirmation in an announcement on Sunday afternoon.
As we reported, many had boycotted for Maroon 5 to cancel their performance due to the NFL’s actions on certain social issues and in support for Colin Kaepernick. Many celebs came out against Scott’s decision to perform, but, he managed to secure his spot on one condition!
According to Billboard, Travis Scott said he would only perform if the NFL made a joint donation to an organization fighting for social justice.
Scott made a $500,000 donation with the NFL to “social justice accelerator” Dream Corps.
“I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in,” Scott said in a statement. “I know being an artist that it’s in my power to inspire. So before confirming the Super Bowl Halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation. I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change.”
The Super Bowl is scheduled for February 3.
