Trey Songz Claims Self-Defense In Alleged Domestic Assault Lawsuit
Trey Songz has been in a legal battle with a woman named Andrea Buera for months after she claimed the singer allegedly attacked her during All-Star Weekend in 2018.
Due to her claims, Songz was arrested but he was not charged. Both the Los Angeles District Attorney and City Attorney declined to file misdemeanor and felony charges against him due to lack of evidence. However, Buera filed a civil lawsuit against him, claiming he choked her and punched her several times in the face after he saw her talking to another man.
The 34-year-old singer is now arguing self-defense as the reason to throw out the lawsuit, according to court documents obtained by The Blast. Songz claims he wasn’t responsible for any injuries Buera sustained and says he “reasonably believed Plaintiff was going to harm him and any force he used was only the amount reasonable necessary to protect himself.”
Songz maintains that he did not harm her as she claimed in the suit, but argues if Buera’s suffered damages it was due to her wrongful conduct. Songz is demanding her lawsuit be dismissed.
