According to The Daily Mail, both men, ages 45-years-old and 61-years-old, were not allowed to fly and was taken into custody by police on suspicion of being under the influence of drink or drugs before boarding the plane.

The flight, number UA162 to Newark in New Jersey, was due to leave Glasgow Airport at 9am, but was forced to be cancelled after the pair’s arrest. Now things could have went terribly wrong if these pilots were to board the flight. Thankfully, they were caught before takeoff, which potentially saved all the passengers lives.

The limit for alcohol in the breath for pilots specified as 9 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres – less than half the 22 micrograms limit for drivers in Scotland, The Daily Mail reports.

As of right now, it is unclear if they have been released and what they will possibly be charged with. We will continue to keep you updated when more details have been shared.
