At the time, full details on his condition were not shared but the latest update states that he is now in a coma.

Singleton’s family revealed to TMZ that he suffered a “major stroke” and confirmed the he’s is now in a coma. It was said that the family is in the process of establishing a conservatorship for him. In Legal docs obtained by TMZ, John’s mom, Shelia Ward, has asked a judge to appoint her temporary conservator because he is “unable to properly provide for his personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.”

It was noted that the 51-year-old famed director did not have any medical directives thus the need for a conservatorship.

Celebrities like Snoop Dogg, actor Omar Epps and Nia Long took to social media to send prayers and well wishes to Singleton last week.

“Pray [for] my brother John Singleton,” Snoop wrote alongside a photo of himself next to the director. “Prayers up for [John Singleton,]” Epps wrote, “Pull thru brother! The world needs your voice and vision. Prayers up for your family as well.” Nia Long also added, “Praying hard this morning for my friend John Singleton. PULL THROUGH BABY.”
