UPDATE: Jordyn Jones Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Roommate Alexis Crawford
According to 11Alive News, police have arrested the second suspect in connection to the death Clark Atlanta University student, Alexis Crawford.
Atlanta police shared on Saturday that they arrested Crawford’s roommate, 21-year-old Jordyn Jones just hours after detaining her boyfriend, 21-year-old Barron Brantley. They both now face charges of malice murder in the Oct. 31 death of Crawford. The news site says that the medical examiner determined Crawford died by asphyxiation.
Atlanta police officers recently recovered the body of Crawford, who was missing since November 1. Following an interview by investigators, Jones had shared that she was not on speaking terms with Crawford because of a separate unspecified incident. Strangely enough, police also noted that they took a report from Ms. Crawford on Oct. 27, just days before she was reported missing. It said, “In this report, Alexis described unwanted kissing and touching” from Jones’ boyfriend “Barron Brantley,” Chief Erika Shields of the Atlanta Police Department said.
While a motive was not yet clear, investigators have determined that this was an “isolated, off-campus incident,” George T. French Jr., the president of Clark Atlanta University, said in a statement on Friday.
“Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with her family and with everyone who knew and loved Alexis,” he said.
Barron Brantley waived his first court appearance on Saturday morning and has a preliminary hearing scheduled before a Fulton Superior Court judge on Nov. 22. Jones is also currently being held at the Fulton County Jail.
