Police have arrested the man who was filmed savagely beating an elderly woman on the NYC subway.

“The subject wanted for the brutal subway attack of an elderly woman IS IN CUSTODY. The victim was treated & released from the hospital & is getting the care, advocacy & support needed,” Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea announced Saturday.

The NY POST reports that the man’s identity has not yet been released and police state that the charges are currently pending against him!

As we reported, a 78-year-old woman was attacked around 3:10 a.m. Sunday at the White Plains Road/Nereid Ave station in the Bronx.

The horrific assault was recorded on a cellphone and shows the man approaching the woman while she was seated. He is taped punching and kicking the woman over six times.

What was more shocking is that other  passengers stood around as the attack happened and the man exited the subway car before yelling “Now World Star That!”
