As we previously reported, a gunman hijacked a mail delivery truck and opened fire on people at random, police said. Initially, Police departments in Midland and Odessa, Texas, originally warned of two potential shooters, but said later Saturday evening there was only one and there is no longer a threat. Police eventually fatally shot the suspect and described him as a white man in his mid-30s.

Seven out the 13 sent to the hospital were in critical condition. At a press conference on Saturday, Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke said at least three law-enforcement officers were among those shot. Their conditions were unclear. The conditions of the rest of the victims were also mostly unclear as of Saturday evening.

Saturday’s incident comes just weeks after a gunman killed 22 people in the Texas city of El Paso after opening fire in a Walmart.
