With HBO’s other hit series ‘Game of Thrones’ concluding its seventh season, they did not disappoint as they debuted another hit show called ‘Insecure,’ created and written by Issa Rae.
Insecure, tells the story about modern-day black women who might be described as strong and confident; or in other words, just the opposite of Issa and Molly. As the two best friends deal with their own real-life flaws, their insecurities come out as they cope with an endless series of uncomfortable everyday experiences.
It is also a comedy series that looks at the friendship of two black women in a unique, authentic way. It features the music of both indie and established artists of color, and touches on a variety of social and racial issues that relate to the contemporary black experience.
This time around, Rae left the audience on a huge cliff-hanger as she concluded her second season. This season we got hear a dope soundtrack, see how Issa taped into her ‘Hoe-Phase,’ how Molly was still trying to figure herself out, Lawrence’s till trying to get over Issa, the ‘We Got Y’all’ program getting better, Daniel and Issa’s relationship getting serious, Tiffany still married, and Keli still being her goofy self, but losing weight and getting healthy.
However, what really has fans anxious about is still, Issa and Lawrence’s relationship, and if they are going to get back together! It left us with a dream of Issa imagining her and Lawrence, married, and having a baby together, still living in their “Dunes” apartment, but ended with her waking up, and him just saying good-bye to Issa.
In the finale, it was strongly suggested they had some unfinished business to settle.
Moreover, judging by the well-executed conclusion, Season 3 can’t come soon enough with answers. How will Issa and Daniel’s relationship evolve once they’re roommates? Is Molly really going to be the side chick in Dro and Candice’s open relationship or does she want more? Did Lawrence blow it with Aparna?
