While word has circulated that one of favorite vocalists in the group received the pink slip; her teammate will.i.am confirms Fergie is in fact leaving the Black Eyed Peas; however, on her own terms.
will.i.am revealed to Emirati magazine, Ahlan! that “nobody is replacing Fergie” and that she’ll always be a part of the BEP; but that each party has mutually decided to part ways to focus on their own ventures.

Moreover, he tactfully stated:
“As for replacing, what people know the Black Eyed Peas to be, nobody is replacing Fergie. She’s working on her solo project at the moment, we’re on this brand-new experience, celebrating 20 years of Black Eyed Peas putting out music.”
In addition, he admitted the group helped Fergie with her solo project and is also working on their own with Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. However, he admits, “I don’t want to go into details how she’s involved yet.”
“We worked on a bunch of songs on her solo record, we’re proud that she has her label [Dutchess Music under BMG], but Black Eyed Peas are pushing it forward in terms of content, technology and experiences on our new [graphic novel] project, Masters Of The Sun.”
Although will.i.am admits to working with Scherzinger, he further supports that no one will ever replace the Fergalicious singer; because if you haven’t noticed, the once all-male trio (will.i.am., apl.de.ap, and Taboo)…
“Since the beginning of Black Eyed Peas, we’ve always had amazing vocalists that appeared on the mic with us. People like Macy Gray, Esthero, Debi Nova, Fergie. On ‘Elephunk,’ there were several females that appeared on that album. Obviously Fergie was the featured female, but on songs like ‘Lets Get it Started,’ it’s Noelle (Scaggs), and then Fergie, songs like ‘Latin Girls,’ it’s Debi Nova, and ‘Request Line,’ it’s Macy Gray. We’ll always work with good females.”
