William Barr Says Mueller Report Found No Obstruction Or Collusion
It happened: A redacted version of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s nearly 400-page report on the findings of his long investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election was finally released Thursday.
The report was made public just shortly after Attorney General William Barr defended President Donald Trump and noted several times that Special Counsel Robert Mueller did not find evidence that anyone from his campaign conspired with Russia to meddle in the 2016 presidential election and argued that he did not “obstruct justice.”
Although, the lengthy document was littered with redactions, it crucially says that the special counsel did not clear Trump in its final paragraph: “Accordingly, while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”
While Barr’s defense is not shocking, his confirmation that he had received and shared a redacted version of the Mueller report with White House lawyers, prior to the release was shocking to House Democrats.
So how does Donald Trump feel about all of this? Well, he hopped on twitter to let the world know how excited he was about it all.
“I’m having a good day,” Trump said at a White House event for the Wounded Warrior Project. “It’s called no collusion, no obstruction.”
“This should never happen to another president ever again,” he said of Mueller’s investigation, which he again called a “hoax.”
