Woman Arrested For Harassing Child With Genetic Disorder On Social Media

A New York woman was arrested on Thursday after she consistently cyberbullied a child with a rare genetic disorder and sent threatening letters to her home for a year.

NBC New York reports 26-year-old Krista Sewell of Melville, Long Island constantly harassed two-year-old Anna Riley on her Facebook page titled Hope for Anna. Anna’s mother, Jennie Riley, created the page to spread awareness about her condition, harlequin ichthyosis, a genetic disorder that causes skin abnormalities and respiratory issues. Police said Sewell would constantly post threatening messages on Anna’s Facebook, Instagram, and GoFundMe pages for a year and mailed letters to the toddler’s home in Ulster County.

Jennie says she was stunned by the messages sent by Sewell and fearful for her daughter’s life:

‘Although I knew there was a possibility for negativity I never expected to receive the messages that were sent to me. Over the past year I have fought a battle I never thought I would fight and I felt fear no mother should feel,”
