An American woman is being held in the Philippines after she tried to smuggle a newborn baby in her carry-on luggage Wednesday morning.
According to CNN, Jennifer Erin Talbot,43, was caught by airport officials at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila. Philippines Immigration Bureau spokesman Melvin Mabulac said in a statement that the woman appeared to be traveling alone and only showed customs agents her passport and the infant was found when agents inspected her oversized carry-on luggage.
“She did not have any travel documents for the infant,”
The unidentified woman told customs agents that she was the infant’s aunt but did not provide any paperwork to prove that they were related.
“[The] infant was hidden in the oversized belt bag and [she] did not declare nor present to the immigration inspector during departure formalities,”
