Woman Gets No Jail Time After Baby Dies From Drug-Laced Breast Milk
A woman from Pennsylvania who prosecutors say unintentionally killed her 11-week-old baby boy with a mix of drugs in her breast milk will not be going to prison.
The NY Post reports that after accepting a plea deal, the judge sentenced 31-year-old Samantha Jones to three years on probation and 100 hours of community service.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s office states that after conducting an autopsy, it was ruled that the infant died in April 2018 from a combination of methadone, amphetamine, and methamphetamine.
Jones had told police that she was too exhausted to make her baby a formula bottle, so she decided to breastfeed him. Unfortunately, just a few hours later the baby became sick and pale. He later died at a hospital from a drug overdose.
She also revealed to the police that she had been prescribed methadone because she had an addiction to painkillers.
