A Pakistan bound flight from the UK was delayed for hours after a female passenger mistakenly opened the plane’s emergency exit after believing it was the bathroom.
According to the New York Post, Pakistan International Airlines Flight 702 was set for departure from Manchester to Islamabad Friday evening when a passenger mistakenly opened the aircraft’s emergency exit. Officials reported that the woman ignored the seatbelt sign and opened the emergency exit at the end of the plane.
PIA wrote in a statement that the passenger’s mistake caused the emergency exit slides to deploy, leading up to an eight-hour delay.
“A passenger erroneously opened the emergency door causing the emergency slide to activate,”

Although the plane was able to take flight, a few passengers were able to fly due to the limited evacuation capacity. 38 passengers decided to take a later flight.
“All passengers were provided dinner. The offloaded passengers were provided with transportation and hotel accommodation and will be adjusted on the next available flight,”
Some passengers did not receive their luggage since it was still it Manchester airport.
