A Queens woman was slashed in the face after she rejected the advances of a stranger.
The New York Daily News reports 31-year-old Dana Sagona was walking on her way to a friend’s home in Williamsburg when the suspect approached her and commented on her appearance early Sunday morning. She said he asked her if she was “scared” after he made the disturbing comments.
“He was saying, ‘I’m looking at this beautiful woman. I’m going to marry her.’”
Moments after Sagona rejected his advances, the attacker grabbed her by the neck and sliced the left side of her face with a homemade blade.
“When he took out the blade, he said he would kill me,”
After the attack, the suspect took her keys, $4, a MetroCard, and a $600 dollar wallet.

The Queen native was on her way to a friend’s house to help volunteer at a Petco in Manhattan. She described her attacker to police as a possibly Latino male in his 50s and he tried to hit on her while she was waiting for her Lyft ride.
“He looked me up and down again and pretended to be on his phone.”

Sagona was transported to Woodhull Hospital then to NYU’s Winthrop Hospital where she received 44 stitches. Luckily, her attacker’s slashing did not damage the nerves in her face.
“But I don’t have nerve damage. He just missed my eye. He just missed major muscles.”
She says the attack caused her to lose a sense of safety and she is thinking about living with a roommate.
