A Florida woman who caused a deadly car crash while driving under the influence was captured smiling in her mugshot. She fatally injured a mother who was driving with her teenage daughter.
WRIC reports 44-year-old Angenette Marie Welk, of Ocala, was driving under the influence when she hit the back of a stopped Hyundai Elantra on U.S. 27. The car was driven by 18-year-old Shiyanne Kroll and Sandra Clarkson,60, sat in the passenger’s seat. Welk’s reckless driving caused Kroll to smash into the back of a trailer that was stopped in front of her.
The two victims were taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center and Clarkson died of her injuries a few days after the crash. Police charged Welk with driving under the influence and booked her at Marion County Jail but she was released hours after.

Since Clarkson’s death, Welk has not been re-arrested but investigators say they are in the process of upgrading her charges to DUI manslaughter.

Welk’s blood alcohol content was.172 which is twice the legal limit in Florida and had trouble following directions during her field sobriety test. Clarkson’s daughter, Keonna Sciacca says her family is devastated by Clarkson’s death.
“It’s definitely wrecked our family forever, not just temporarily, this was a permanent thing that she did. I’m trying to cope with the fact I won’t see her walk again, she won’t be home when I get home from work or in the mornings when I get home from work. I won’t be able to talk to her, I won’t see her laugh, she won’t see me laugh. I can’t hug her I can’t tell her, ‘Goodnight, I love you,'”
“It’s destroyed us.”
She added it was insulting to see Welk smiling in her mugshot.
“That disgusts me and that means she has no remorse for what she did at all and I hope that judge sees that picture and says the same thing,”
