A British woman says she tore her uterus open and lost six pints of blood after an accident on a water slide in Tenerife, Spain.
According to the Sun, Toni Steedman,25, was on vacation at the Aqualand waterpark in Costa Adeje and entered the slide. She claims the waterpark staff did not give her any safety instructions before the accident and almost died on her way to the hospital.
“The slide had a free fall drop and the life guards at the top never told me to fold my arms or cross my legs. The slide was really fast and when I hit the water at the bottom I felt something just burst inside me. When I stood up I felt as though I needed the toilet but as I moved blood started pouring from between my legs. It was making a trail as I walked from the pool.”
Steedman added that the accident occurred on May 15, 2017, since the trip was planned to celebrate her husband’s birthday.
She was transported to the Quirónsalud Hospital but was rushed to another hospital so doctors could perform a life-saving procedure. Doctors gave her an epidural so they could perform the surgery. However, she was required to pay for the hospital stay and procedure out of pocket since she did not tell her insurance about the vacation.

Aqualand has received many complaints about the lack of safety regulations and precautions in the park. Recently, a customer named Joe Pollard said he went down on a slide and it left a severe cut on his face.
‘I went on a slide and it ripped my face off – I looked like something out of a horror movie with blood running down my face and naked torso. I was in an area with at least 10 life guards and not one of them came over to check I was okay. Disgraceful.’
