Young Woman Forced To Deliver Baby Early, After Boyfriend Sets Her On Fire

Recently reported, a young woman from Washington, DC who has been identified as Andrea Grinage, 31, was allegedly set on fire by her boyfriend, causing her to deliver her baby seven weeks earlier than her due date.

First responders alerted the media, that when they were able to get into the apartment in Capital Heights, Maryland, they discovered Grinage, completely covered in critical burn wounds, after being doused with flammable liquids.

However, Grinage was conscious enough to identify her alleged attacker to police.

The new mother reportedly told authorities when they arrived, that her unnamed boyfriend poured flammable liquid on her, and then set her on fire inside her Maryland apartment.

The authorities were called after Grinage somehow was able to warn her mother that her boyfriend was in the District of Columbia. She warned that he might be on his way to her apartment to harm her after they got into an altercation.

Moreover, according to NBC Washington news, Cops say the estranged boyfriend surrendered, and turned himself in to authorities, just before he thought about going to harm the rest of her family.

There are no exact details as to what the previous altercation was about, or what led to the violent incident, but the trauma forced Grinage into an early labor. A medical emergency crew rushed Grinage to the hospital where she then delivered the baby.

A Prince George’s County, Maryland police spokesperson Jennifer Donelan, commended Andrea on her strength and awareness, she expressed,

“She was very brave. We want her family to know how brave she was, suffering as badly as she was critically burned, worried about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able to share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person.”

“These are not the circumstances under which this baby was to be born. Both the mother and the baby require your thoughts and prayers at this time.”

Since the incident Grinage named her newborn daughter, Journey, but both are reportedly in critical condition.

We send out condolences to Andrea Grinage and her family during this tragic time.
